The operation of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting (DFLTI) is assisted by several Committees. See the organizational chart of DFLTI.

Assembly of DFLTI

The Assembly of DFLTI is responsible for the following:

  • Appointment of the Programme Committee
  • Teaching assignments of undergraduate courses, as specified by law
  • Validation of every decision, change and amendment of undergraduate studies
  • Any other matter covered by specific provisions

Committees

Programme Committee

The Programme Committee of DFLTI is appointed by the Assembly of DFLTI and consists of 7 professors of DFLTI. One of the members of PC acts as Chair of the committee. The members of PC are appointed by the Assembly of DFLTI for a 2-year term, and have the possibility to have their term renewed.

The Committee is responsible for:

  • Monitoring and coordinating the operation of undergraduate studies
  • Making suggestions to the Assembly of DFLTI regarding changes/amendments/updates of undergraduate studies
  • Making suggestions on matters relevant to undergraduate studies to the Assembly of DFLTI

Communication and Interconnection Committee

The Communication and Interconnection Committee of DFLTI is appointed by the Assembly of DFLTI and is responsible for the connection with:

  • Networks
  • Associations
  • Foreign universities

It is responsible for advertising and promoting DFLTI as well as for its opening to the community (schools, local institutions, open-house).

The Committee’s work is assisted by PhD candidates or/and postgraduate students that are appointed by the Assembly of DFLTI.

Committee for the professional rights of graduates

The Committee is appointed by the Assembly of DFLTI and is responsible for the collaboration with the Panhellenic Association of Professional Translators Graduates of DFLTI (PEEMPIP) for monitoring the implementation of the professional rights of the graduates of the Department.

The members of the Committee are as follows:

Internal Assurance Unit Committee (OMEA)

OMEA is appointed by the Assembly of DFLTI and is responsible for the evaluation of DFLTI. In particular, it is responsible for:

  • Gathering and constant update of the data of professors
  • Compilation of evaluation tables
  • Compilation of internal regulations (along with those of the University)
  • Constant monitoring of the University Evaluation Committee's work

University Research Centre Assistance Committee

The Committee is appointed by the Assembly of DFLTI and is responsible for drafting and submitting research programs to the University Research Centre.

Committee for the Certification for Foreign Language Teaching Programme competence

The Committee is responsible for compiling a parallel Curriculum to provide foreign language teaching competence to the graduates of DFLTI.

Doctoral and Postdoctoral Studies Committee

The operation of Doctoral Studies is assisted by the Doctoral and Postdoctoral Studies Committee which is appointed by the Assembly of DFLT. It has the general supervision of the operation of Doctoral Studies and is responsible for coordinating the procedures described in the Doctoral and Postdoctoral Studies Regulation.
