DFLTI is part of Ionian University’s Faculty of Humanities and was established in Corfu in 1986.

Two Specializations

Since the 1991/92 academic year, the single degree of the Department has been divided into two Specializations:

  • Translation
  • Interpreting

DFLTI is part of the Ionian University’s Faculty of Humanities and was established in Corfu in 1986.

    DFLTI is the only University Department in Greece offering a Bachelor’s Degree with Specialization either in Translation or Interpreting.
    • How to enter
      High school students who pass the Greek National University Entrance exams, or graduates of a Greek or foreign university or an equivalent higher education institution education may apply for admission to DFLTI.
    • Structure of studies
      DFTLI’s Undergraduate Programme is structured in two branches: Core and Specialization.

      DFLTI graduates have the right to certify translations and can be employed in both public and private entities.

      DFLTI connects the academic world to the market through collaborations with professional associations and institutions employing translators and interpreters.

      DFLTI is located near the center of Corfu’s capital in the new part of the city.
  • Structure
    DFLTI belongs to Ionian University’s Faculty of Humanities. It is governed by the Assembly and its operation is assisted by Committees.
    • Administration
      DFLTI's operation is spearheaded by its Department Head and Deputy Head, who are elected for a three-year term. The Department is governed by the Humanities' Faculty Dean, whose term also lasts for two years.
