Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

Upon completing the course, the students will be able to:

Know the base types of interpreting
Know and analyse data concerning recent events
Analyse and reformulate passages
to know and apply in practice the techniques and skills of consecutive interpreting by simulating professional environment
produce public speech and deliver speeches in front of an audience
know how to research and prepare for consecutive interpreting

Syllabus:

· Introduction to interpreting

· Comprehension and analysis of texts of general content

· Activities to improve short term memory, comprehension and reformulation of speeches of general content. Delivering speeches in front of an audience

· Memory activities

· Familiarisation of students with interpreting preparation activities.

· Introduction to note taking

· Consecutive interpreting of speeches of general content by note taking.

· Consecutive interpreting of specialised speeches

· Mock conferences
