Centre for Literary Translation and Book Policy

The Center for Literary Translation and Book Policy (CLTBP) focuses on the following areas:

• the generation of new knowledge in the field of literary translation and its pedagogy, through participation in conferences and research programmes, as well as through academic publications.
• close collaboration with the Petra-E Network, which brings together institutions dedicated to teaching literary translation. The Ionian University has been a member since 2018.
• organizing visits to the Ionian University by writers, translators, editors, and other key actors in the book industry, with the aim of presenting and discussing their work with students of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting.
• engaging with the publishing world and establishing contacts with state bodies, writers’ associations and book festivals with a view to championing the work of Greek writers abroad.
• investigating new ways of publishing and republishing translated literature, whether in print or electronic form, as well as exploring ways to access and utilise the archives of translators, authors, and publishers.
