Stavroula Vraila is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting at the Ionian University, specializing in Economic, Legal and Political Translation (Greek–German). She holds a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a Master’s Degree in Translation Studies from the Ionian University.

Her research focuses on the translation of political discourse, the translation studies of ideological and cultural metaphors, and contemporary applications of artificial intelligence in translation. Her work examines how political speeches, metaphors and narratives of power are transformed interculturally through translation, highlighting issues of political ethics, linguistic mediation and digital bias.

She has published articles in Greek and international academic journals, and her work has been presented at international conferences. Her research contributes to contemporary discussions on translation as a political and cultural act, with particular emphasis on the impact of digital technologies and language models on the representation of political meaning.

She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering the translation of political, economic and legal texts, and actively participates in departmental committees (Erasmus, Internal Evaluation, Alumni, Communication and Outreach), contributing to the connection between academic scholarship and the professional field of translation.

Since 2007, she has been working as a professional translator, collaborating with publishing houses and companies developing digital applications and websites. Her translation work focuses on specialized, institutional and communicative texts, emphasizing accuracy, consistency and the functional effectiveness of discourse within each institutional and cultural context.
