In this course we consider central aspects of earlier Albanian law culture:
the history of Albanian customs and traditions in the North and South of the country,
with particular focus on unwritten codes (customary law).
Upon completion of the course the following aims will be completed:
- Familiarization with the customs and traditions of Albanian populations
- Contact with the history of the legal civilization of Albania in its early phase
- Acquaintance with the traditional Albanian society
- Approach of the mentality of the neighbouring Albanian population
Learning outcome: Contacting and familiarizing students with the culture, traditions and society of the neighboring Balkan state, which will contribute to the understanding of this people's mentality and will lead to the approval of diversity.
Week 1: The geographical context and the outline of the Registered Law.
Week 2: The Albanian home and the Albanian household.
Week 3: The leader of the house and the position of women.
Week 4: The separation of the brothers.
Week 5: Roads / Borders
Week 6: Shepherd and the law of the dog.
Week 7: Bajaractars / Elders.
Week 8: The administration of justice / General assemblies.
Week 9: The Oath
Week 10: Witnesses and verdict
Week 11: : Theft as a crime
Week 12: Fear within the family

Face to face: Use of audiovisual means and maps.
Provision of copies of scientific and journalistic articles as
well as topics for student preparation and mutual speculation
for the next week class.
