This course constitutes the completion of the specific course unit in the area of translating literary texts from French to Greek. The objectives remain the same with the ones designed for the 5th semester’s course "Literary Translation French-Greek I". Here, however, the degree of difficulty of the texts to be translated is higher and texts with both topical and stylistic particularities are approached (prose with "internal monologue"). The same methodological parameters are implemented as in the above-described course of the 5th semester ("Literary Translation French-Greek"’) and the 6th semester ("Literary Translation French-Greek").
This course constitutes the completion of a course unit of translating literary texts from French to Greek, which unfolds in three semesters. Given the fact that the 7the semester is the third and final of this unit, the texts adapted and translated are more difficult compared the ones studied in the previous semesters. Nevertheless, the basic principles of the learning outcomes of the previous semesters still apply here, as the same methodological parameters are implemented as in the above-described course of the 5th semester (“Literary Translation French-Greek’’) and the 6th semester ("Literary Translation French-Greek").
More specifically, in this third and last semester of the specific subject, the goal is:
- to provide the trainee students with the opportunity of approaching and coming into closer contact with French literature and to help them deal with the translation difficulties of literary translation effectively
- that students acquire the greatest possible skills approaching challenging literary texts, some of which belong to the French ‘New Novel’ which, among others, is expressed through internal monologue
- the initiation and acquaintance of students with the stylistic and semantic peculiarities of autobiographical writing
- introduction of students to the publishing market by making references to a specific publishing series
