Short Description:

Students make use of their knowledge in the French language acquired by the courses of previous semesters and gain better skills in order to be able to handle the translation challenges posed by the texts offered.

Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

Students develop string foundation in the French language and are able to cope with translation challenges with confidence

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will:

  • Recognize the specific characteristics of different kinds of texts
  • conduct fluent translations
  • have practiced in translation by making use of the proper translation techniques
  • understand fully different texts of advanced difficulty of C2 level and will be aware of the French current state of affairs
  • produce texts in Greek language with a certain word limit based on original French texts
Syllabus:

1st week: Introduction to translation from Greek to French.
In the first lesson, an approach to the difficulties of the translation act from the source language, namely the Greek to the target language, i.e. the French, is made. At the end of the course students are given the text they will have to translate.

2nd week: Analysis of students' work, correction of errors, explanations and conclusion to a final reliable translation of the original text.
