Short Description:

In this course, students translate texts of general content from Spanish to Greek. Because Spanish is not one of the main working languages of the DFLTI, the course aims at improving the knowledge of the Spanish language of students who already know Spanish. In fact, its the main goal is to help the students apply their knowledge and translation skills (which are already acquired from the translation courses of the main working languages of the Department, i.e. English, French and German) and translate Spanish texts. Therefore, they will develop translation skills in relation to the specific language and will acquire translation experience from the translation of Spanish texts of general content.

Upon completion of the course, the students will be able to:

  • Know how to analyze Spanish texts of general content and interest
  • Understand the semantic structure of Spanish texts of general content

Understand the textual environment of Spanish journalistic texts as well as of other texts

Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

In this course, the students approach theoretical and practical translational peculiarities of Spanish texts. Because of the general nature of the course (which is specialized in the next semester, when the course Translation Spanish-Greek II is taught), as well as the fact that Spanish is not a working language of the Department, texts of various levels of difficulty, but also of general content are selected, i.e. journalistic, administrative, but also simple literary texts.
