Students are introduced to the Greek folk song, Cretan literature and the Heptanese School of literature. Then, they are introduced to the Greek language question: its early phases and the work of the main representatives of purism and demoticism, and, lastly, the translation from foreign languages into Greek during the 19th century.
Through this course, the students will:
- Become aware of the modern Greek literature
- Be aware of the connection between the Greek modern literature and the Greek modern language and will know the translation work of Greek modern authors
- Know the different movements of the modern Greek literature
- Deepen their knowledge in the Greek folk song, the Greek Heptanese School and its translation works
