The desire to start a "normal" new year is strong. For this reason, we urge all students and staff to be vaccinated, if they have not already done so, and in this way to strengthen the hope of returning to the desired academic normalcy. Safely, individually and collectively.

The prominent French Professor, Political Scientist and Arabologist, Gilles Kepel, paid a visit to the Rector of Ionian University, Professor Andreas Floros with the aim of coming closer to the activities of our University.

The collaboration with the Ionian University of Greece resulted into another successful terminology project, this time about Brexit, Korea Crisis, Cyclic Economy and Waste Reduction, Disinformation and Cybersecurity, Inequality, Terrorism and Youth Empowerment. 

The International Summer Academy for Intercultural Communication will run for the second consecutive year between the 1st and the 9th of July, 2019 at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting. The Summer Academy aims to raise intercultural awareness and understanding and cultivate intercultural communication skills. The Laboratory for Geocultural Analyses of DFLTI / GeoLab and the British Buckingham University Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS) organise in Corfu the International Summer School in Mediterranean Security and Culture on July 3-7, 2019. We are pleased to announce the official cooperation between the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting (DFLTI) of the Ionian University and the Terminology Coordination Unit of the European Parliament's Directorate-General for Translation (TermCoord).

The Βοοκ "YELLOW TOURISM Crime and Corruption in the Holiday Sector" published by Springer International Publishing, is a follow-up to the 1st International Conference on" Yellow Tourism "(Tourism and Crime) organized by the Ionian University (Ionian Academy) April 27-29, 2017, addressing every form of threat and challenge to the tourist product from criminal activities.

The International Summer Academy for Intercultural Communication (ISAIC) will be held in June, 2018 for the first time at the Department of Foreing Languages, Translation and Interpreting (DFLTI) of the Ionian University. Zoi Resta, member of the Interpretating Studies teaching staff at DFLTI, represented the Panhellenic Association of Professional Translators Graduates of the Ionian University (PEEMPIP) and received the 2017 FIT Prize for Interpreting Excellence in a special ceremony held in Brisbane, Australia as part of the 2017 FIT Congress.

On the 31st of May 2017, the new book of Nikos Papadimitriou, Associate Professor at DFLTI, entitled "A Postmodern Requiem - Issues of European Philosophy, Art and Politics in the 21st Century" (Athens, Gutenberg) was presented by Joseph Papadatos, Deputy Rector of the Ionian University and Professor at the Department of Music Studies in Corfu, Greece and by Nasos Martinos, litterateur and psychiatrist from Corfu.
