This course specifically addresses the following topics: history and theory of comics, history, theory and types of humor, layout of the comic, the comic peculiarities as a literary genre, translation problems. The comics of Arkas with their specific cultural characteristics are offering a perfect example of the difficulty of the translation project to the German language - and into a different cultural environment in general - and help practicing the methods of domestication or foreignization.
