Short Description:
The course sets out with a historical overview of interpreting and interpreting studies with special reference to the profession of the interpreter.
Furthermore, the course deals with the types of interpretation,the schools of interpretation, the use of ICT tools and the changes
changes in the profession of the interpreter. The student gets an indepth grasp of the techniques of the different
types of interpretation, the theoretical approaches, and the challenges of the globalized market.
Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

 

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to:

• know the historical evolution of interpreting and the differences from translation,

• be aware of the social contexts in which different types of interpreting are offered,

• recognize the parameters that generate the typology of the types of interpreting,

• evaluate the cognitive and communication parameters shared by the different types of interpreting,

• recognize the basic theories and methods of describing communication through an interpreter,

• know the trends and perspectives of research in the field of interpreting.
