The course is entirely devoted to Dante's Inferno. The courses deal with the form of the poem, the significance of number 3, the exact meaning of the word “Commedia” and the stylistic variety of the poem, the architecture of Dante's universe, the use of Aristotle's Ethics and the relation between the different crimes and their punishment. Dante's biography and the historical context are also dealt with.

The aim of the course is to spark the interest of the students in one of the most famous works of Western literature. In view of this, we are trying to provide the 21st-century

 young Greek reader of the poem with those tools which are necessary for the enjoyment of the work. The Inferno, which is the less “Christian” among the three cantiche of the Divine Comedy is suitable for someone who touches for the first time Dante.
