Short Description:

The students will come in contact with the basic principles of grammar, syntax and vocabulary of a special language. This way, the student will be able to contact a totally different society and civilization. 

Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

This course aims at:

  • acquainting students with Turkish Language
  • providing basic and necessary knowledge in order for the students to understand simple texts and translate simple text on the level of grammar, syntax and vocabulary.
  • learning the Turkish language through short translation exercises
  • familiarization of students with the way of thinking of the neighboring country, as expressed through language codes.
Syllabus:

The necessary basic knowledge of grammar (basic structure and grammar elements) syntax and vocabulary are offered in this course. Moreover, through exercises the application of the acquired knowledge in translation of basic level texts is achieved. This level is a perquisite for the next level (II).

Teaching Methods:

Face to face / In this course the basic principles of the Turkish language are presented in a slow and methodical way. Special attention is given to the good understanding of linguistic phenomena through the solving of exercises and the offering of studying material (audio and visual material, notes) in opencourses platform. 

New Technologies:

Use of ICT in teaching.

Evaluation Methods:

The evaluation of students is done exclusively through examination in the end of the semester. The examination comprises of solving exercises in grammar phenomena, which are already taught to the students. The type of examination is uploaded in opencourses.
