Introduction to interpreting (Teaching languages: Greek, English, French, German)

Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

Upon completing the course, the students will be able to:
● Know the basic types of interpreting
● Analyse and reformulate passages
● to know and apply in practice the techniques and skills of consecutive interpreting by
simulating professional environment
● produce public speech and deliver speeches in front of an audience
● know and use effectively the methodology and techniques of interpreting

  • Types of interpreting
    • Interpreting (linguistic, social and cognitive approaches)
    • Comprehension and analysis of texts of general content
    708• Analysis and reformulation of passages
    • Memory activities, reformulation activities
    • Reformulation activities- delivering a speech in front of an audience
    • Introduction to note taking
    • Consecutive interpreting of speeches of general content
    • Consecutive interpreting by note taking
    • Public service interpreting
    • Mock conferences (consecutive interpreting)
    • Introduction to simultaneous interpreting
