Short Description:

Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting Greek- French

Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

Upon completing the course, the students will be able to:
● Analyse and reformulate speeches
● Use effectively the techniques of consecutive interpreting by simulating a professional
environment
● Use effectively the techniques of simultaneous interpreting by simulating a professional
environment
● Know the research methodology and skills of simultaneous interpreting
● Deliver speeches in front of an audience
● Participate in a mock conference

Syllabus:
  • Interpreting of general content texts using note taking
  •  Interpreting of specialised speeches using note taking 
  • Preparing for a conference (speakers, keynote speakers, interpreters, participants)

    ● Week 2Consecutive interpreting of general content speeches using note taking
    techniques
    ● Week 3 Consecutive interpreting of specialised speeches using note taking techniques
    ● Week 4 Consecutive interpreting of specialised speeches using note taking techniques
    ● Week 5 Introduction to conference interpreting (historical background, the profession,
    social dimension, working conditions)
    ● Week 6 Introduction to conference interpreting (types of conference interpreting,
    techniques, handling difficulties, equipment)
    ● Week 7 A vue interpreting
    ● Week 8 A vue interpreting
    ● Week 9 Booth interpreting (general content speeches)
