Short Description:

This course constitutes the completion of the specific course unit in the area of translation of literary texts from Greek to French. The objectives remain the same with the ones designed for the concept of the 5th semester course ("Literary Translation Greek-French I") and for the 6th semester ("Literary Translation Greek–French II"). The degree of difficulty of the texts to be translated in this final course is higher and texts from travel literature are proposed. The same methodological parameters are implemented as in the course of the 5th semester ("Literary Translation French-Greek I") and that of the 6th semester ("Literary Translation Greek-French II").

Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

This course constitutes the completion of the specific course unit in the area of translating literary texts from Greek to French. The objectives remain the ones designed in the corresponding concept of the 5th semester course ("Literary Translation Greek-French I") and of the 6th semester ("Literary Translation Greek–French II") during which, the degree of difficulty of the texts to be translated is higher and texts from travel literature are proposed. These texts are drawn from the literary genre of travel literature and the semantic, stylistic and factual parameters they contain, contribute, as far as possible, to the achievement of the single learning result expected i.e. the practice, acquaintance with literature and skills acquisition of students so that they can adapt modern Greek texts into the French language and context in such a way that the French reader understands, the peculiarities of the Greek literary way of thinking and writing. Here, however, the texts of Nikos Kazantzakis proposed poses more challenging translation difficulties, one of which is and the search for literary expressions. Two courses of this semester focus on the very difficult exercise of translating poetic discourse from Greek into French.
