In September 2016, the book by Anastasia Parianou, Associate Professor of DLFTI, entitled "Risikokommunikation und Übersetzen – Das Beispiel der Instruktionstexte" was published by DIAVLOS Publications.

Assistant Professor Ioannis Karras published a paper entitled "A Genre Analysis of Luxury Hotel Brochures" in an edited volume by M, Grygiel and M. Rzepecka (Eds.), Specialist Communication in Education, Translation and Linguistics. Rzeszów, Wydawnistwo UR.

In September 2016, a book by Panayotis Kelandrias, Associate Professor of DLFTI, entitled Functional Didactics of Translation was published by DIAVLOS Publications.

In September 2016 the international collective volume entitled "Language and Nation Crossroads and Connections" was published by Waxmann Publishing GmbH which has been edited by Anastasia Parianou, Associate Professor of DFLTI, along with Guri Ellen Barstad, Arnstein Hjelde, Sigmund Kvam and John Todd. Dr. Parianou has also contributed with her article "Nation, Translation und kleine Sprachen".

On the 6th of June, DFLTI professor G. Kentrotis received the “Aris Alexandrou - Translated Poetry Award” for his book, a translation of poems by Bertolt Brecht, titled “This Babylonian confusion of words” (Athens: Gutenberg, 2014).

Maro Mantziara, a graduate of our Interpretation track, was given a scholarship to do a joint (3 European Universities: UNIVE Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia - UAB Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona - UPVM Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier) Master’s degree in “Cultural Mediation in the Mediterranean” within the framework of the Erasmus Mundus programme.

Two DFLTI students of Interpreting Studies, Maria Dimitropoulou and Maria Mantzara, presented the results of their innovative dissertation on “Interpreting in the Greek Asylum System – A case study” at the TransLaw 2016 conference, University of Tampere, Finnland, in May 2016.

Anastasia Parianou, Associate Professor of DFLTI, participated in the International Conference "TransLaw 2016: Translation and Interpreting as a Means of Guaranteeing Equality under Law" (University of Tampere, Finland, 2-3 May 2016). She presented a paper entitled "Rechtsphraseologismen und Translation oder Wie bringt man die doppelte Verschachtelung unter einen Hut?" (Law Language Phraseologisms and Translation: How can they coexist?).

Lorandou Publications (Corfu) published the translation of senior European Commission official Jimmy Jamar’s work: “Letters to Byron: reflections on Greece of yesterday, of today, of tomorrow”, accomplished by Michalis Politis, Associate Professor, DFLTI.

The Collective Volume "Citizenship in Transition – New Perspectives on Transnational Migration from the Middle East to Europe" (Ed.: Αnnemarie Profanter & Francis Owtram) in which Assistant Professor Sotirios Livas participated with the 6th chapter: 'Xenophobia, Alienation, Heterotopias and Cultural Limits: Fictional Boundaries of the Athens Pakistani and Afghani Communities', has become the Cambridge Scholars Publishing “Book of the Month” for October 2015.

Anastasia Parianou, Associate Professor, is participating in VISTAC – Science and Technology Visuals in Translation organized by the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) (http://act.nmt.edu/humanizingtechnology/cluster-i/visualizing-science-and-technology-across-cultures-vistac/vistac-science-and-technology-visuals-in-translation/ http://act.nmt.edu/humanizingtechnology/cluster-i/researchers/).

The DFLTI Interpreting Studies sector organized on 27/2/2015 a presentation-discussion in collaboration with the Corfu Bar Association on the topic of “Court Interpreting: Practical problems and potential solutions” with speakers: Zoi Resta and Anastasios Ioannidis, members of the DFLTI interpreting teaching staff, Panagiotis Alevantis, Head of Representation, European Commission Representation in Greece, and Marianna Asimakopoulou, Syn-eirmos Social Solidarity NGO-“Babel” Day Center. The presentation-discussion took place at the Function Hall of the Corfu Bar Association at the Corfu courthouse.

A 10 hour course on the Finnish language was offered gratis at the DFLTI (14-21 November 2014) by Ms Maria Martzoukou, philologist and translator of Finnish literature.
