Maro Mantziara, a graduate of our Interpretation track, was given a scholarship to do a joint (3 European Universities: UNIVE Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia - UAB Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona - UPVM Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier) Master’s degree in “Cultural Mediation in the Mediterranean” within the framework of the Erasmus Mundus programme.

Two DFLTI students of Interpreting Studies, Maria Dimitropoulou and Maria Mantzara, presented the results of their innovative dissertation on “Interpreting in the Greek Asylum System – A case study” at the TransLaw 2016 conference, University of Tampere, Finnland, in May 2016.

Panayotis Kelandrias, Asscociate Professor of DFLTI, and Vilelmini Sosoni, Lecturer of DFLTI, represented the Department at the 13th Thessaloniki Book Fair (12-15 May 2016) by organising a Round Table titled "Training translators: experience and testimonies" within the framework of the "Haunt of Translation".

Anastasia Parianou, Associate Professor of DFLTI, participated in the International Conference "TransLaw 2016: Translation and Interpreting as a Means of Guaranteeing Equality under Law" (University of Tampere, Finland, 2-3 May 2016). She presented a paper entitled "Rechtsphraseologismen und Translation oder Wie bringt man die doppelte Verschachtelung unter einen Hut?" (Law Language Phraseologisms and Translation: How can they coexist?).

On 12/4/2016 at the central library of the Ionian University, took place a presentation of the book “The New Science” of Giambattista Vico translated by Professor G. Kentrotis.

Lorandou Publications (Corfu) published the translation of senior European Commission official Jimmy Jamar’s work: “Letters to Byron: reflections on Greece of yesterday, of today, of tomorrow”, accomplished by Michalis Politis, Associate Professor, DFLTI.

On 8/3/2016, Assistant Professors Maria Tsigou and Sotirios Livas gave a lecture titled “Linguistic pluralism and human rights in crisis-ridden Europe” at the Solomos Museum, Corfu, within the framework of collaboration between the Laboratory for Language and Politics of DFLTI and the Society for Corfiot Studies.

The Collective Volume "Citizenship in Transition – New Perspectives on Transnational Migration from the Middle East to Europe" (Ed.: Αnnemarie Profanter & Francis Owtram) in which Assistant Professor Sotirios Livas participated with the 6th chapter: 'Xenophobia, Alienation, Heterotopias and Cultural Limits: Fictional Boundaries of the Athens Pakistani and Afghani Communities', has become the Cambridge Scholars Publishing “Book of the Month” for October 2015.
