Born in Nordhausen am Harz. Studied philosophy sociology and German language literature at the University of Frankfurt. Studies at the University of Thessaloniki. Research in the context of a doctoral study on the problems of emigrant workers who have returned from Germany to Greece. In 1982 he received his doctorate in sociology from the University of Paderborn. From 1983-85 research assistant at the University of Essen. From 1985-1991 DAAD lecturer at the Department of German Language and Philology of the University of Athens. From 1991-2015 teaching at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting at the Ionian University in Corfu. In 2016 he was officially appointed emeritus at the suggestion of the department.
