Professor Periklis A. Papavassiliou studied Biochemistry in Marseille-France (Université de Provence, Aix-Marseille I), and received his PhD in Biochemistry at the Laboratory of Bacterial Chemistry of the National Scientific Research Center (CNRS) in Marseille.
He worked in the field of laboratory analysis and research (Biochemical Laboratory of Asklipieion Hospital-Voula-Athens, Hellenic Biotechnology Company BIOHELLAS SA, Hellenic Pasteur Institute-Laboratory of Biochemistry and Laboratory of Biotechnology). He also worked in the field of translation of scientific texts from French and English into Greek.
In 1997 he was elected as faculty member at the Ionian University, Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting in Technical Translation French-Greek.
He is a member of the Panhellenic Union of Biologists since 1985, the Hellenic Biochemical and Biophysical Society since 1986, the Hellenic Society for Biotechnology and the Association of Greek Chemists since 1988, the Hellenic Society of Clinical Chemistry and Biochemistry since 1990, the Hellenic Society for Terminology since 1995 and the Hellenic Society for Translatology since 2015.
