The Ionian University's UNESCO Chair taking part to the first special UNESCO Campus workshop

In the framework of the UNESCO/EU project “Inter-regional and crosscutting action aiming to strengthen the fightagainst illicit trafficking of cultural property” and at the occasion of the European Year of Youth 2022, post-graduatestudents of selected UNESCO Chair programmes and related universities are invited to discuss with experts andamong each other ways of enhancing knowledge and skills needed to fight illicit trafficking of cultural property in aninterdisciplinary manner. 

Upon an invitation of UNESCO to the Chair on Cultural Heritage and Cultural Heritage related Activities the Ionian University is participating to the UNESCO virtual Campus conference-debate on "How to fight against illicit trafficking of Cultural Objects?" which will take place on the 31st of May  2022. 

This is a special edition organised with the Culture Sector of UNESCO and for the first time especially conceived for university students.  The topics: a) The 1970 Convention and the complexity of stakeholders, b) how to secure national trasures and how to trace and retrieve stolen or looted objects, and c) how to investigate cultural proprety crime.

The conference / discussion presents the students who have been trained by the research and teaching staff of the Chair. In addition to the group of the UNESCO Chair of the Ionian University, the selected groups come from the Universities of Heidelberg (Germany), Poitiers (France), and Opole (Poland).
