Πολιτική Μετάφραση και Μετάφραση Κειμένων της ΕΕ

Ο στόχος του μαθήματος είναι διττός: Επιδιώκει να εισαγάγει τους φοιτητές στη γλώσσα της πολιτικής, τα χαρακτηριστικά των πολιτικών λόγων, την τέχνη της ρητορικής, τα κομματικά μανιφέστο, τα συνθήματα και τις αφίσες, καθώς και σε διάφορα είδη προπαγανδιστικής γραφής, που ποικίλουν από κείμενα που παράγονται από διεθνείς θεσμούς, πολιτικά κόμματα και κυβερνήσεις, μέχρι κείμενα που παράγονται από εταιρείες και δημοσιογράφους. Επιδιώκει επίσης να εισαγάγει τους φοιτητές στη μετάφραση των κειμένων της ΕΕ και ιδίως των οικονομικών και πολιτικών κειμένων της ΕΕ. Γίνεται μια εισαγωγή στην ιστορία της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, στην πολύγλωσση και πολυπολιτισμική παραγωγή των κειμένων της καθώς και στις ιδιοσυγκρασίες τους. Δίνεται έμφαση στη γλωσσική ισότητα των κειμένων της ΕΕ και στην επακόλουθη επιφανειακή ομοιότητά τους και στον «υβριδικό» χαρακτήρα τους. Οι φοιτητές μαθαίνουν πώς να παράγουν κείμενα που όχι μόνο συμμορφώνονται με τις προσδοκίες του αναγνωστικού κοινού και είναι ορολογικά ακριβή, αλλά ακολουθούν και τις απαιτήσεις και τις κατευθυντήριες οδηγίες των θεσμικών οργάνων της ΕΕ (συμμόρφωση με το Διοργανικό Εγχειρίδιο Σύνταξης Κειμένων,  τον Οδηγό για τα Ελληνικά, τις οδηγίες μετάφρασης κειμένων WEB κ.λπ.). Επιπλέον, οι φοιτητές εξοικειώνονται με τις ιδιαιτερότητες των πολιτικών κειμένων μέσω της ανάλυσης πολιτικών λόγων και κειμένων προπαγάνδας. Οι φοιτητές μαθαίνουν να εντοπίζουν και να χρησιμοποιούν αποτελεσματικά τα χαρακτηριστικά της πολιτικής ρητορικής, όπως η μετωνυμία, η μεταφορά, η αναλογία, η επανάληψη, η αντίθεση, η ανθυποφορά, και τα προτρεπτικά στοιχεία που συνήθως υπάρχουν στα πολιτικά κείμενα.

Μετά την ολοκλήρωση του μαθήματος, θα έχει επιτευχθεί η:

• κατανόηση των ιδιαιτεροτήτων των πολιτικών κειμένων, των ιδιαιτεροτήτων των πολιτικών λόγων, των μανιφέστο και των πολιτικών εκστρατειών, της σημασίας της σημειωτικής, του ρόλου των χρωμάτων, των παραγλωσσικών χαρακτηριστικών και της ιδιολέκτου
• κατανόηση της προτρεπτικής λειτουργίας των πολιτικών κειμένων και των προκλήσεων που θέτει η μετάφρασή τους ανάλογα με την προβλεπόμενη λειτουργία του κειμένου-στόχου
• ικανότητα μετάφρασης πολιτικών κειμένων για διαφορετικές λειτουργίες, προσαρμογή εικόνων, μουσικής και άλλων εξωγλωσσικών χαρακτηριστικών, όπως απαιτείται
• κατανόηση του ευρωπαϊκού οικοδομήματος και του ευρύτερου κοινωνικοπολιτικού πλαισίου στο οποίο παράγονται τα κείμενα της ΕΕ
• ικανότητα διάκρισης μεταξύ των διαφόρων ειδών και των ιδιαίτερων χαρακτηριστικών των κειμένων της ΕΕ (π.χ. γλωσσική ισότητα, επιφανειακή ομοιότητα, υβριδισμός, διακειμενικότητα)
• ικανότητα μετάφρασης κειμένων της ΕΕ (πολιτικών, οικονομικών, νομικών κ.λπ.) σύμφωνα με τις κατευθυντήριες γραμμές και τα αυστηρά πρότυπα που καθορίζουν τα θεσμικά όργανα της ΕΕ
• ικανόττα επίλυσης μεταφραστικών προβλημάτων που σχετίζονται, μεταξύ άλλων, με την ορολογία, τη φρασεολογία και τις ιδιοσυγκρασίες των κειμένων της ΕΕ
• αποτελεσματική χρήση των ηλεκτρονικών πόρων και των μεταφραστικών εργαλείων που παρέχει η ΕΕ
• η ανταγωνιστικότητα των φοιτητών στην αγορά εργασίας και η γνώση των ευκαιριών σταδιοδρομίας στα θεσμικά όργανα και τους οργανισμούς της ΕΕ.

Εβδομάδα 1: Επισκόπηση του μαθήματος. Εισαγωγή στην πολιτική, τους πολιτικούς και τις πολιτικές καμπάνιες. 

Εβδομάδα 2: Σάτιρα, μεταφορά και μετωνυμία

• Η αναλογία
• Η τέχνη του spin
• Ομιλίες και soundbites
• Η δύναμη των τριών, αντιθετικά ζεύγη και η χρήση των αντωνυμιών
• Συνθήματα και αφίσες
• Μανιφέστο
• Κοινοβουλευτικές ομιλίες

Εβδομάδα 3: Χρησιμοποιώντας εργαλεία ανάλυσης corpus: AntConc, Voyant Tools. Μετάφραση πολιτικών κειμένων.

Εβδομάδα 4: Μετάφραση για την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, ιστορική επισκόπηση και πολιτική της πολυγλωσσίας (Η Ευρώπη σε 12 μαθήματα). Θεσμικά όργανα της ΕΕ, διαδικασίες λήψης αποφάσεων και αποκεντρωμένοι οργανισμοί. Μετάφραση για την ΕΕ: Ευκαιρίες απασχόλησης, απαιτήσεις της αγοράς, διαγωνισμοί της ΕΕ (EPSO).

Eβδομάδα 5: Η νομοθεσία της ΕΕ, η πολυγλωσσία, η γλωσσική ισότητα, η συλλογική σύνταξη κειμένων από φυσικούς και μη φυσικούς ομιλητές, ο υβριδισμός των κειμένων. Ανάλυση νομοθετικών κειμένων, έλλειψη ισοδυναμίας νομικών εννοιών, υβριδικότητα του νομικού συστήματος της ΕΕ, αυτονομία και υπεροχή του δικαίου της ΕΕ,  ζητήματα ορολογίας, νεολογισμοί και πολιτισμικοί ενδείκτες. Η ψευδαίσθηση της ισοδυναμίας.

Εβδομάδα 6: Μετάφραση κειμένων της ΕΕ και των περιορισμών που τίθενται στους οδηγούς σύνταξης και μετάφρασης των θεσμικών οργάνων της ΕΕ: Interinstitutional Style Guide, Greek Style Guide, Joint practical guide of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission for persons involved in the drafting of legislation within the Community Institutions, Guide for External Translators. Χρήση του Juremy για την εξεύρεση ορολογίας.

Εβδομάδα 7: Δικαστήριο της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης (ΔΕΕ), προδικαστικές αποφάσεις, νομολογία του Δικαστηρίου.

Εβδομάδα 8: Μετάφραση αιτιολογικής έκθεσης.

Εβδομάδα 9: Μετάφραση εγγράφου εργασίας.

Εβδομάδα 10: Μετάφραση προτρεπτικών κειμένων, ιδεολογία και μετάφραση, προπαγάνδα, η τέχνη της πειθούς.

Εβδομάδα 11: Μετάφραση δελτίου Τύπου και κειμένου WEB. 

Εβδομάδα 12:  Η μηχανική μετάφραση στην  ΕΕ: eTranslation και μετεπιμέλεια μηχανικά μεταφρασμένου κειμένου.

Εβδομάδα 13: Μετεπιμέλεια μηχανικά μεταφρασμένου κειμένου: πρακτική εφαρμογή.

Το μάθημα έχει υβριδική μορφή διαλέξεων-εργαστηρίου. Βασίζεται σε μεγάλο βαθμό στην αλληλεπίδραση με τους μαθητές και τη συζήτηση στην τάξη. Οι πρακτικές συνεδρίες επικεντρώνονται σε πρακτικές πτυχές των θεμάτων που καλύπτονται και περιγράφονται κατά τη διάρκεια των διαλέξεων. Πραγματοποιούνται πρακτικά σεμινάρια μετάφρασης επίσημων κειμένων που εκπονούνται από τα θεσμικά όργανα της ΕΕ. Το υλικό διατίθεται στην πλατφόρμα e-class. Επίσης, γίνεται συνεργασία με τη Μονάδα Ορολογίας της ΓΔΜ του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου και οι φοιτητές/φοιτήτριες εργάζονται σε σχέδια ορολογίας για τη βάση δεδομένων ΙΑΤΕ.

Οι φοιτητές αξιολογούνται με τελική γραπτή εργασία και με γραπτή εξέταση. Οι φοιτητές μπορούν να επιλέξουν εργασία που συνίσταται στη μετάφραση επίσημου νομικού, οικονομικού, πληροφοριακού κειμένου ή πολιτικού κειμένου της ΕΕ και στον σχολιασμό των μεταφραστικών προβλημάτων που αντιμετώπισαν και των στρατηγικών που χρησιμοποίησαν για την αντιμετώπισή τους ή να εκπονήσουν σχέδιο ορολογίας σε συνεργασία με την TermCoord, δηλαδή τη Μονάδα Ορολογίας της ΓΔ Μετάφρασης του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου. Μπορούν επίσης να επιλέξουν ερευνητική εργασία στους τομείς της πολιτικής και της γλώσσας ή της ορολογίας και της μετάφρασης της ΕΕ. Την εργασία την παρουσιάζουν προφορικά και στην τάξη. Παράλληλα με την τελική εργασία και εξέταση, κάθε εβδομάδα ανατίθενται στους φοιτητές σύντομες εργασίες και ασκήσεις είτε ατομικές είτε ομαδικές.
