“The Policeman in China”

With the text “The Policeman in China” the executive director of the Hellenic Sinology Center of the Ionian University participates in the literary magazine (de)kata’s tribute to detective fiction under the editorship of the writer and critic Chrysa Spyropoulou. This is the magazine’s second major tribute to the genre, after the first in 2008, with the participation of Dr. Elena Avramidou.
“The Policeman in China” examines the history of the detective novel in China from the first stories of plot and mystery with the hero an incorruptible judge who solves strange cases to the present day when, in addition to the mystery and plot, detective stories offer a picture of the modern country. It contains critical, psychological in-depth analysis of the pathogenesis of Chinese society in narrative texts in which the social aspect predominates.
