Steps to Applying

We're delighted that you're considering applying to the postgraduate taught course "MA in Security and Cultural Heritage Studies"—a" UNESCO Chair teaching program at the Ionian University. Read on for a step-by-step guide to submitting an application.

1. Review entry requirements

1.1 Selection Criteria for Admission
The selection of admitted students is made according to Law 4957/2022 and the provisions of the MSc Regulation. Specifically for admission to the SCHER MSc program, the undergraduate degree grade, English language proficiency, recommendation letters, scientific-research activity, professional experience, and performance in the interview will be considered.

Please read the entry requirements to find out if you have the required qualifications to be considered (including English language and international requirements if relevant). This webpage also contains the specific application and admission procedures or required documents for your course (attachment PDF file).

2. Submit your application

To apply, you'll need to use our online application portal, where you can submit your application online. This system is designed to support you through the application process. You will receive emails from the Ionian University when you submit an application. We strongly encourage you to save this as a contact so any emails do not go in to your junk/spam folders.

You will typically need to include:

  • transcripts of your previous and/or current qualifications (with official English translations if not originally in English)
  • one reference contact email (this will usually be academic; you may be required to obtain a second reference at the request of the department)
  • any English language qualifications that you have (if your first language is not English)
  • a personal statement

Your referee(s) might be emailed after you submit, so we recommend you letting them know to expect an email from the Ionian University.

SCHER requires some additional information to be submitted with the application e.g. writing sample/CV. Please check the attached ‘Entry requirements’ pdf-file. Please provide as much of the above documentation as you are able to do so upon submitting your application; including interim transcripts if you are still currently studying.

We will be in touch when assessing your application if we are missing required documentation, which may delay a decision being made. We however understand documents to meet your offer conditions, such as final academic transcripts and/or English language tests, may not be immediately available, and not providing these at the point of submission will not hinder your application. If you are made a conditional offer, the deadline to submit final documents will be detailed within your offer letter.
