Steps to Applying
We're delighted that you're considering applying to the postgraduate taught course "MA in Security and Cultural Heritage Studies"— a UNESCO Chair on Threats to Cultural Heritage teaching program at the Ionian University. Read on for a step-by-step guide to submitting an application.
1. Review entry requirements and Selection Criteria for admission.
The selection of admitted students is made according to Law 4957/2022 and the provisions of the MSc Regulation. Specifically for admission to the SCHER MA program, the undergraduate degree grade, English language proficiency, recommendation letters, scientific research activity, professional experience, and performance in the interview will be considered.
Please read the entry requirements to find out if you have the required qualifications to be considered (including English language and international requirements if relevant). This webpage also contains the specific application and admission procedures or required documents for your course (attached PDF files).
2. There are two ways to submit your application
Candidates are invited to submit their applications exclusively online.
In order to apply, you can:
Use our online application portal (recommended), where you can submit your application online. This portal is designed to support you through the application process. You will receive emails from the Ionian University when you submit an application. We strongly encourage you to save this as a contact so any emails do not go into your junk/spam folders.
or
Submit your application and included documents via email (master_SCHER@ionio.gr) All files attached must be in PDF form (each not exceeding 6 MB)
In both cases, you will typically need to include (please check the attached "Call for Applications" file):
- Copy of identity card or passport
- Curriculum vitae
- Copy of Bachelor’s degree or certificate of completion of studies (recognized equivalence as required by applicable Greek legislation).
- Two letters of recommendation relevant to their research and/or professional career
- Copies of publications in scientific journals, monographs or peer-reviewed conference proceedings (if any)
- Evidence of professional or research activity or certificates of training and further education (if any)
- Copy of English language proficiency (expected B2 Level) in case the first or subsequent degree does not concern an English-speaking study program
- One photograph
* Your referee(s) might be emailed after you submit, so we recommend you let them know to expect an email from the Ionian University.
Please check the attached "Entry requirements" file and provide as much of the above documentation as you are able to do upon submitting your application, including interim transcripts if you are still currently studying.
We will be in touch when assessing your application if we are missing required documentation, which may delay a decision being made. We, however, understand documents to meet your offer conditions, such as final academic transcripts and/or English language tests, may not be immediately available, and not providing these at the point of submission will not hinder your application. If you are made a conditional offer, the deadline to submit final documents will be detailed within your offer letter.
