The Master's Programme “Politics, Language and Intercultural Communication” (POLICO) of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting (DFLTI), examines the communicational aspect of Discourse as expressed in particular regions of the world. This examination is mainly founded on the multilevel academic study of the new cultural expression pertaining to the above-mentioned Discourse aspect. No fees apply.
Our aim
POLICO aims at offering new perspectives on political-social issues by:

familiarising students with Discourse Analysis methods and to the study and with analysis of the parameters and root causes that create some important political and social phenomena

engaging students to deal with issues that combine, on one hand, the use of Language as a “tool” and, on the other, the study and analysis of concepts such as society, power, nationality/ethnicity, marginalisation, contact of civilisations, etc.
Our curriculum
Studying at POLICO is equivalent to 90 ECTS credits (30 of which are gained after the student’s successful thesis defense).
Each 2-hour course is taught in Greek, and examinations take place in February and June in the form of:
- Written or speaking test
- Assignment preparation or presentation
- A combination of the above.

Duration of studies
Courses begin every fall semester and last for 3 academic semesters. The first two semesters comprise courses for which compulsory attendance is expected whereas the third semester is dedicated to the composition and defense of the students' master thesis. Find out more about the master thesis.
