The course of political communication aims to

  • expand opportunities for critical thinking in themes of political communication analysis, which has been developed in the EU and Greece.

In particular, the personification of politics, the political campaign, the crisis of democracy, the indifference to politics and apathy (refusal of citizen participation).

It also analyzes the role of political communication in modern political life, emphasizing the impacts of the media on modern forms of political communication, on political parties and on the electoral (and more generally political) behavior of citizens.

Emphasis is placed on the analysis of the characteristics of political discourse, as the main body of politics and communication between citizens and politicians, but also on the concept of ideology as a key component of politics.

It also analyzes individual aspects and techniques of political communication such as political advertising, public relations, populism, the role of television debates and polls, the Internet as well as the effects of mediated political communication on political discourse and the formation of the public sphere.
