In this course we continue studying the various practices and forms of literary translation. The aim overall remains an evaluation of the translator’s choices and a consideration of the constraints and re-creative possibilities inherent in an exceptionally multifaceted process; the close relationship between theory and practice as well as issues of reception as texts move between literary systems. During this semester we will engage with a range of texts (prose, poetry, drama) produced by English-speaking authors, and students will also take part in group presentations in class, during the last few weeks of the course.
